A tour guide system built for phones
Help every guest hear the guide without handing out radio receivers.
LiveTourAudio is a browser-based tour guide system for live, guide-led groups. The guide speaks into a phone, guests scan a private QR code, and the group listens through their own phones and headphones.
Key points
- No dedicated receiver inventory to charge, number, clean, or collect
- Guests join the correct private tour from a QR code
- Designed for walking tours, museums, campuses, venues, and site visits
- A seven-day trial supports real tours without requiring a payment card
What a tour guide system needs to solve
A tour guide system has one practical job: keep the guide understandable when distance, traffic, crowds, wind, or room acoustics make ordinary speech unreliable. Traditional systems solve that with a transmitter, receiver packs, and headsets. LiveTourAudio moves the receiving side into the guest's browser.
This changes the operational work around a tour. There is no receiver checkout table, charging cabinet, device count, or post-tour collection step. Guests use familiar equipment and the guide starts the tour from the same kind of phone they already carry.
How LiveTourAudio works
The guide signs in, selects the guest-page language, and starts a private live tour. LiveTourAudio displays a tour-specific QR code. Guests scan it, open the listener page, and start the audio in their browser. The QR link contains the access information for that tour, so guests do not search for a public room or type a code.
A guide-location view can help guests find the group after they fall behind. The service is intended for live narration rather than prerecorded, self-guided audio tours.
- Guide: a supported smartphone, microphone permission, and an internet connection
- Guest: a supported smartphone, internet connection, and preferably headphones
- Group: one private QR code for the active tour
When a phone-based system is a good fit
Phone-based tour audio is particularly useful for operators who run moving groups, do not want to maintain hardware, or need a system that can be used by occasional guides without a distribution desk. It can also reduce the friction of scaling a one-off tour because additional guests bring their own receivers.
It is not the right answer for every environment. A reliable internet connection is required for the current web mode, guests need sufficient battery and mobile data, and organizations with strict device restrictions may still prefer dedicated radio hardware. A short field test on the actual route is the best way to decide.
Frequently asked questions
Is LiveTourAudio a live or prerecorded audio guide?
It is designed for live, guide-led audio. The guide speaks during the tour and guests hear that narration through their phones.
Do guests install an app?
No. Guests open a private listener page in a supported mobile browser after scanning the tour QR code.
Does the guide need to purchase transmitters or receivers?
No dedicated LiveTourAudio hardware is required. The guide and guests use compatible phones, and headphones are recommended for listeners.
Does it work without internet access?
The current production web mode requires internet access for both the guide and listeners. A field test is recommended anywhere mobile coverage is uncertain.
